MVCTC Assistant Superintendent Participates in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honorary Commander Program

Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) proudly recognizes Dr. Rhonda Phillips, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, for her participation in the 2025 Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) Honorary Commander Program. The program officially launched on May 6, 2025, with an induction ceremony held at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

The Wright-Patterson Honorary Commander Program is designed to build meaningful connections between military leaders and local professionals across a wide range of industries. Through a year-long series of events, selected community members engage in immersive experiences that highlight the mission and impact of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, while strengthening civilian-military partnerships.

Dr. Phillips, who will be collaborating with leaders from the U.S. Space Force, shared her enthusiasm for participating:

“I’ve always known the importance of Wright-Patt to our region, but this program strengthens the collaboration between military and civilian leaders. It enhances our mutual understanding of how each sector contributes not only to our local economy but also to national defense and workforce readiness.”

This year’s program includes over a dozen professionals from fields such as education, healthcare, and technology. Participants will take part in a variety of briefings, facility tours, and joint engagements with their military counterparts to foster a better understanding of leadership, mission alignment, and community impact.

U.S. Air Force Col. Dustin Richards, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, emphasized the importance of these partnerships:

“It’s great for the military side to bring in community partners and showcase what we have to offer. Just as important is seeing what our civilian partners are doing and finding new ways to work together.”

MVCTC congratulates Dr. Phillips on her involvement in this unique leadership initiative and celebrates the opportunity to further connect education with service and innovation in the Miami Valley.
