Important Weather Reminder: School Closings & Delays for MVCTC Students

As winter weather delays and closings become more likely this time of year, MVCTC families are reminded of how school closings and delays impact student attendance at MVCTC.

When Your Partner School District Is Closed or Delayed

If your partner school district is closed due to weather or other calamities:

• Students whose partner school district is closed are not required to report to MVCTC, and this will not be counted as an absence from MVCTC.
• Students from a closed district may report to MVCTC if they choose and can find a safe way to get to school.
• Students from other districts that are not closed are required to report to MVCTC as usual.

If your partner school district is on a delay:

• Students must report to MVCTC at the appropriate delayed time that aligns with their partner school’s delay schedule.
• Students on advanced placement or internships are not required to report to MVCTC if their partner school district is on a delay.
• If a student arrives at MVCTC at the regular time and later discovers their partner school is on a delay, the student is expected to remain at MVCTC and follow the MVCTC schedule.

When MVCTC Is Closed Due to Weather

If MVCTC is closed by the administration and/or the Board of Education because of weather conditions or other emergencies:

• No students are required to report to school.
• Once the decision is made, local media and TV newsrooms are notified.
• A phone call will be sent to families using the phone number on file with the district.
• Delays or closings will be posted on www.mvctc.com.

In the event of a closing or delay involving MVCTC:

• Watch local TV news for official announcements.
• Check the MVCTC website at www.mvctc.com for updates.
• A phone call will be sent to the number on file.
