Exploring the Future: MVCTC Students Inspire Career Exploration Across the Miami Valley

Throughout September, Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) students proudly represented the district at multiple career exploration events across the region, helping younger students discover the power of career-technical education.

On September 4, MVCTC students attended the Preble County 8th Grade Experience Future Careers Day at the Preble County Fairgrounds. Students Reagan Holland (Media & Video Production / National Trail), Ava Duncan (Medical Lab Assisting / Eaton), Luke Cross (Auto Technology / Twin Valley South), and Jackson Chapin (Architectural Design / Eaton) shared how hands-on learning has helped them develop real-world skills and shape their career goals.

Later in the month, on September 23, MVCTC students joined Made in Miami County, where eighth graders from across the county explored career options through interactive exhibits and student-led demonstrations. Representing MVCTC were Perla Fuentes (Cosmetology / Bethel), Emma Hershberger (Veterinary Science / Miami East), and Michael Krull (Retail Agriculture Services / Milton-Union), who spoke about their experiences and future career aspirations.

Rounding out the month, on September 28, MVCTC Aviation Maintenance Technician graduates Autumn Randall (Brookville) and Kathryn Wilcox (Huber Heights) participated in the Women in Aviation – Girls in Aviation and STEM Careers Day at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The event, hosted by the Huffman Prairie Chapter of Women in Aviation, introduced girls ages 6–17 to aviation and STEM opportunities. Autumn and Kathryn led a hands-on activity in safety wiring a turnbuckle, demonstrating how precision and teamwork are vital in flight control systems.

Through these events, MVCTC students served as role models, encouraging the next generation to explore their passions and consider the many pathways available through career-technical education.
